A retirement lifestyle village comprising 380 homes has just been launched within the 800 hectare, R1.8-billion Jubilee Lakes Coastal Estate in Jeffreys Bay just 80 kilometres from Port Elizabeth.
The broad-based estate, which includes a magnificent Nicklaus-designed golf course, was originally launched at the end of 2007 with 403 of the 539 residential erven already sold.
"The developers ? Golf Data in conjunction with Prosperito and Rob Birch, the owner of the land ? have now launched one of the most all-inclusive retirement villages in South Africa as part of the residential mix of the estate and offering exceptional value for money," comments Keimpe Weistra, Pam Golding properties area principal.
World-class golf course
There will many facilities which residents can make use of in addition to having access to the world-class golf course. These amenities include a bowling green, equestrian centre, tennis and squash courts, 24-hour security, upmarket restaurant and coffee shop, hairdresser, fully-equipped laundromat, fully-equipped gymnasium with heated swimming pool, lounge, library, drawing room, chapel and private garden, wellness centre, frail care centre, assisted living apartments and the Private Life Healthcare Hospital which is just minutes away.
Golf Data is a leading golf services provider which has been involved in the construction and various aspects of successful projects which include St Francis Links, Simola, Pearl Valley, Oubaai, Pezula and Pecanwood, while Prosperito's development portfolio includes Rose Hill Mall Port Alfred, Zanddrift Lifestyle Estate, Du Mond Resort in Hermanus and Fountains regional mall in Jeffreys Bay.
"With a wide range of highly secure accommodation to suite retired residents, Jubilee Lakes Retirement Village is set on 12 hectares of coastal land and comprises both freehold, and at a later stage, sectional title homes," says Jubilee Lakes Coastal Estate co-developer Birch. "This beautiful environment includes gardens, dams and streams which link the homes with the central club facility."
"The current phase of the retirement village, which was launched in December 2008, was well received by the market, including both local and national buyers," adds Weistra. "The first phase consists of 193 larger, full title erven ranging from 250 to 440m? and set within an appealing landscaped, park-like environment ideal for those who seek independence and an active lifestyle. Prices start from R299 000 ranging up to R649 000 with most of the erven in the mid-R300 000 price bracket. Homes are to be built in the appealing contemporary Karoo farmhouse design style as prescribed throughout the estate. Purchasers in the retirement village can build on up to 70 percent of their stand and need to commence building four years from date of transfer ? with an additional year for completion of construction.
Larger erven are selling quickly
"We are finding that the larger erven priced between R400 000 and R649 000 are selling quickly due to their location alongside the gardens, dams and streams within the village. Investors who are not yet ready for retirement are purchasing stands for their parents and in some instances as an investment property which is rented out ? with the stipulation being that residents in the retirement village need to be 50 years or older," says Weistra.
"Other lifestyle choices are to be situated closer to the Jubilee Wellness Centre and include smaller, full title erven and cosy self-contained sectional title simplexes or apartments," comments Gerhard Jooste, a director of Prosperito. "There will also be provision for those who are less independent and who can be integrated into the heart of the village in the Jubilee Frail Care Centre. The provision of health care is based on a model that has been tried and tested by the developers, with an experienced health care team providing a 24-hour service to residents of the frail care centre. The centre is also linked to the assisted living apartments and the rest of the village via a round-the-clock electronic medical response system, giving all residents complete peace of mind. In addition, they are able to customise their various levels of health care to suit their own individual needs."
Construction of the retirement village is expected to commence in the first half of this year.
