The National Union of Mineworkers (Num) has confirmed its members will go on strike at all 2010 FIFA World Cup construction sites next week.
It served notice on employers on Tuesday.
The move comes after marathon talks collapsed last week Friday.
Construction will be affected at all Gautrain sites as well as Soccer City in Johannesburg.
The strike will also hit the Moses Mabhida Stadium and the King Shaka Airport in Durban as well as Greenpoint Stadium in Cape Town.
Num's Lesiba Seshoka said mobilisation has begun and the strike is set to begin in a week.
"We have served noticed to the employers and what this means is that we are now ready to hit the road running."
