More articles on Cape Town and its burgeoning hotels:

There seems to be a clash in views concerning the longevity of hotels being built in the city.

Recently Cape Town Tourism said that hotels would be able to stay in business after the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

However, the Hospitality Property Fund?s Gerald Nelson said it was currently facing an oversupply of rooms, which would be filled during the showpiece.

Nelson warned that if the current economic situation did not change, then they would still sit with the oversupply.

"There could be some pre and post business from the event, but thereafter unless there is a fairly substantial change in economic conditions, the oversupply situation is likely to continue," said Nelson.

Cape Town Tourism?s Mariette du Toit maintained that an oversupply was not possible as many people visited the Mother City all year round.

"There?s definitely not an oversupply of rooms in Cape Town. Cape Town, traditionally, is a very well established city destination," said du Toit.
